Here's a group of kids from this year's first grade class. In first grade, kids range from six to eight years old, depending on when they started school and how they are progressing through each grade. 

First grade is named by the Kenyan Ministry of Education as part of the lower primary school (grades 1-3). 

On a typical school day, 1st graders study many subjects. The curriculum includes:

• Literacy Activities or Braille Literacy Activities
• Kiswahili Language Activities or Kenya Sign Language (for deaf learners)
• English Language Activities
• Mathematical Activities
• Environmental Activities
• Hygiene and Nutrition Activities
• Religious Education Activities
• Movement and Creative Activities

At Pine Lake Academy, students receive breakfast and lunch on school days, and have access to learning tools such as textbooks and chalkboards. Class sizes are small, and teachers are professional, experienced, and dedicated to providing an excellent education.
